Home mini won't stay charged

I have a google home mini. When I go into the app it says it's 100% charged but if I unplug it it immediately turns off and won't turn back on. What's the point of having a percentage of charge if it doesn't work with the cable??

The Home Mini doesn't have a battery, it needs to remain plugged in to work. Can you share a screenshot of where you're seeing a battery charge level?
