I have a Nest Outdoor (Wired) which unfortunately has stopped working. I managed to get a replacement (before return) through the warranty but have an issue because the wire for the camera was professionally installed and goes through my external wall, with the USB element all inside, and the hole is filled etc. Getting the filler out the hole is going to be extremely difficuly. I think my best option will be to cut the power lead outside the house and rewire the new one like that? But not sure what google will make of that return? Anyone with any thoughts/experience of this issue?

@Duncanlfisher

You probably don't want to have to splice the power cord for the replacement camera, while reusing the old cable that goes through your wall. You might want to chip out what you can on both sides and then have someone pull back and forth from each side to work it loose. Either that, or you cut the cable on both sides and redrill the hole, returning the remaining cut cable to Google. I don't think they're going to resell the used cable anyhow. (You could try contacting Google Nest Support at https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en to see whether they're okay with returning a cut cable.)

I used an extra-long 7/8-inch drill bit to drill through our garage walls for our Google Nest Outdoor Cameras; that's the size hole needed to feed through the USB connection for the camera's cable. It's a little bit of a challenge feeding it through the wall if the wall is thick.
