Frequent Proxitemity Issues

I could say something to my Google Home speaker at a low volume in one room, but frequently a different device in another room will answer me or execute the command I gave.

For example, I used to be able to tell my bathroom speaker to play music with no problem. But now instead of playing the music from the bathroom speaker I gave the command to, it will send the command to my TV in a different part of the house and play the music there. Having to repeat these commands multiple times on top of power cycling the devices makes for a very frustrating experience.

Hi roarfrom44,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out.

Few questions:What Google Home/Nest speaker do you have? Does your TV have a built-in Chromecast or a Chromecast dongle? If yes, what Chromecast do you use? Does it happen when playing music or with any other commands?

Could you do a reboot first starting with your WiFi router, TV, then your Google Home/Nest speaker. Restarting your phone might also help. Also, try the steps below:

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your Chromecast or speaker.

Open the Google Home app .

Touch and hold your device's tile.

At the top right, tap Settings Audio, then:

To choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music, tap Default music speaker.

To choose your preferred TV, tap Default TV.

You can also check out this link for more information and troubleshooting steps.

Tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hi there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Regards,
