topic Google Wifi won't set-up after factory reset in Nest Wifi

I have used the Google Wifi AC1200 in my house for the last 2-3 years - one puck hardwired into my FiOS router, two other pucks wirelessly set up around the house. No issues until the past couple of weeks when the wifi speed on the Google Wifi network was extremely slow for no apparent reason. Not a FiOS issue, as I have a desktop connected via Ethernet to the FiOS router and am getting the speeds I expect.

Tonight I factory reset all three of the Google Wifi pucks and now I have been unable to set up any of them through the Google Home app. The Google Home app finds the device (puck blinking blue, as I expected), allows me to scan the QR code on the bottom of the puck, then after thinking for 10-15 seconds it says that it is unable to connect. I have tried unplugging the two pucks scattered in my house and only plugging in the hardwired one - no luck.

Anyone having similar issues? Is there some other way to reset the pucks more than the method of unplugging power, holding down reset button, then plugging back in?

Got my system back and set up, only after deleting and reinstalling my iOS Google Home app. Still getting very slo speeds and connection errors but at least the mesh network is set up, and I've joined another thread to see if others can offer advice.

Hi, dkehlenbeck.

I'm happy to see you got things set up, but I'm sorry about the connection and speed issues you're seeing. You mentioned you were in another thread on that subject. Are you finding answers there, or would you like to pick things up here on that? Let me know if you would like to get some help here or not.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff - thanks for your reply. The speed issues seem to be a bit more rare now so while the wifi speeds / connection do drop from time to time, it doesn't seem to drop as close to near zero and seems to drop with less frequency. I'm still not sure what is / was going on, as I had not moved any part of my system around my house (nor have I since it started to work a bit better), so I don't think it has to do with the placement of my Google Wifi pucks. The wired connection from my FiOS to my desktop (via the pass-through LAN of the pucks) continues to work fine. If we start to experience consistent issues again, I can try to reach out again here on the forum.

Thanks,

David

Sounds great, dkehlenbeck.

You can always run mesh tests in the Home app to keep experimenting with point placement. Hopefully some fine tuning will continue to improve things. I'll go ahead and mark this one as resolved for now, but as you said, go ahead and start up a new discussion if you want to revisit things down the road.

Thanks,
