I have strange layout in my apartment - 2 separate spaces linked by long narrow walkway (10m). Main google router (and fibre point) in living room is challenged to get strong signal thru that narrow walkway to bedrooms.

Potential Solution is a 2nd fibre point to the 2nd set of rooms. I have 3+2 Google nests setup at the moment.

How can I setup the 2nd Fibre point and still get "mesh"effect - ie walk from room (adjoining area) to living room wo dropped signal and reconnecting?

I read that naming both the same and sharing same password between 2 meshes will not work? Any help most appreciated.

Is pulling an ethernet cable between the two rooms an option? If yes, then you can use what's called wired backhaul.

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7215624?hl=en

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6274262?hl=en

The order must then be fiber modem -> primary nest puck WAN port -> Primary nest puck LAN port -> 2nd nest puck WAN port, or an unmanaged switch between to get more ethernet ports.

Trouble is my wired connection is very old (I didn't do the wiring) and I suspect is only rated at 10MB .....

So my ISP is suggesting to pull in a 2nd fibre into the other side of the flat - HOWEVER, that means I will be having TWO separate mesh right?

Two fiber "outlets" would normally mean two modems with each public IPs. Communication between them would be over public internet. Which would mean two mesh systems. Not ideal for Wi-Fi features like seamless handover. And if you want something connected to first outlet to connect to something on the 2nd outlet, they would be on two different networks.

Test the wire to see what speeds you get?

If the 2nd fiber outlet is pulled from the 1st fiber outlet, you could do ethernet over fiber. But that's an advanced use case.

Does your ISP want you to pay for two subscriptions?

True there will be 2 Separate networks. Guess that will be the solution. Was hoping to have 2 mesh "combined" but current tech seems not possible.

Yes. The ISP has a "combo" plan for 2x 1GBPS ...
