To be able to use the wireless mesh functionality of Nest Wifi, it can't be in bridge mode.

The main Nest Wifi will act as a router, with firewall, NAT and DHCP. It's then recommended to put any equipment in front of it in bridge mode to avoid double NAT.

You _can_ put Nest Wifi pucks with ethernet ports in bridge mode, but then they'll act as seperate access points with no mesh functionality. Also you'd have to create one Google Home home per puck you want in bridge mode.

Hello,

I have just purchased a Nest WiFi mesh system (don't have it yet). I have read some content about the Google router needing to be the DHCP server on the LAN and wondering if this is a must do or can be changed. I already have a Router/Modem supplied by my ISP (which function as the DHCP server) and was hoping to just plug the google router into the existing router (in bridge mode, or equivalent)

Appreciate any advice.

Regards

Birrong
