Upload slow - work-around.

I have used this Google Mesh system for several years in different homes with different internet providers.
Only recently have I experienced throttled upload speeds.
The fiber AT&T Gateway SSID gives me equal download and upload speeds.
The Google Mesh SSID gives me an upload speed that is about 1/3 of the download speed.

The Google Mesh router does not get its ethernet connection via a switch. There is a CAT6 cable that goes directly from the AT&T Gateway device to the Google Mesh router.

Fortunately, the house I now live in is smaller and the AT&T SSID has a strong enough signal that it works for my phones, printer, and laptop. So, I have relegated the Google Mesh SSID to only be used for my home automation and security devices (there are 41 of those). Why should Google care to throttle the upload speed from my mesh SSID?
Because of the throttled upload speed and the random disappearance of the Wi-Fi icon on the Google Home app, I am pretty sure that if and when I upgrade the mesh Wi-Fi, I will not be using Google hardware.
I am not happy that Google does not have a solution to ensure that the Google Mesh Wi-Fi SSID has equal download and upload speeds and a solution to restore the Wi-Fi Google Home icon without resorting to a full factory reset of the Google Mesh system.

Oh, and for the record, my Android phone is connected to the same SSID that the Google Mesh system is using when I perform speed tests.

Hi SirBuck,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the inconvenience this has caused— let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Set a custom DNS at 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.
