topic Nest mesh wifi in Nest Wifi

The nest WiFi mesh throttles down the internet speed from ISP to about 1/3 if lucky, most of times we get just under 100 mbps with a 1 000 mbps service. Even our ISP provider has concluded that this is a google nest issue and forums across the internet confirms this without a doubt.

I had 60 mbps service before and got full speeds as it did not hit the units threshold, believe me their is a speed threshold within their firmware / hardware somehow.

It seems google product development is sticking their heads in the sand , they will not acknowledge that their product is faulty. There at to many of themout there and a fix although automatically updated does nothing to elevate the issue at hand.

We have all our products with nest, from cameras, thermostate to floodlights etc.
Those products function flawlessly but the wifi product does not deliver at higher speeds period.

I am left with replacing this product with another mesh brand, pls people don’t wrap your heads around this problem anymore ,many have tried, Their product is faulty at high speeds, be nice if they can just admit it.

Nest wifi is NOT for high speed internet.

Hey Elbert1,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices? Are you using CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet cable?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.

Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.

Remove any special characters in your network name and password.

Turn off IPv6.

Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.

Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.

If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel
