Nest WIFI Pro > WIFI Windows Devices Keep Disconnecting

I just upgraded from the Hub WIFI 3pk to the new Nest WIFI Pro 2pk. I have two WIFI 6 Windows devices that keeps dropping the signal and disconnecting from the network. This happens even if they are right next to the router.

When I attempt to reconnect it prompts me for my password and states the following:

"Some information changed since the last time you connected. We need additional information to complete the connection"

These devices (laptops) have the following wireless cards and the running the latest drivers from Intel.

Windows Device #1 Intel AX201

Windows Device #2 Intel AX211

Also, worth noting. I am not having any connection issues with any of my home automation devices, WIFI 5 Windows devices, IOS devices or Android devices running WIFI6 & WIFI6E. I have been able to create a Guest Network and the WIFI6 Windows devices seem to be staying connected. Unfortunately, the Windows devices must return to my primary home network. So, staying on the Guest Network is not an option.

Did you reuse your SSID and password?
If so maybe try forgetting the WiFi network and add it as a new WiFi network.

Another question, do you have WPA3 enabled? 😊

RXShorty, thank you for responding.

I did reuse the same SSID and password.

I went through the process of forgetting the WIFI network and adding it back again, same issue. One of the laptops I even formatted so I was starting with a clean slate. Still no luck.

WPA3 is turned off.

I've also reset both WIFI Pro routers and only setup one router thinking maybe it was a mesh related issue. No luck.

I turned on WPA3. The WIFI 6 Windows devices seem to be staying connected now. However, my internet speed has taken a drastic turn for the worst. I'm now getting a weak connection between my routers (wirelessly connected) and the internet speed of all my devices has dropped more than half.

My wife works from home. When she goes to lunch I'll trying restarting the modem then reconnect each device.

Restarting all of the devices did not resolve the speed issue. I saw my internet speeds drop from around 420Mpbs to as low as 130Mbps via hardwired and from 360Mpbs to around 20Mbps via wireless with WPA3 enabled.

I have turned WPA3 off. Back to square one!

It does appear to be plagued with bugs. Guess we're beta testers... Hopefully they're able to get everything working as it should. If not, I'll switch to another manufacturer.

I after doing more digging I read where some were dealing with a 50Mbps cap and had tried installing an unmanaged switch in front of the Nest WIFI Pro router. This fixed some of their issues. I just tried it and my wired speeds stay around 130Mbps however my wifi speeds did increase to around 80Mbps.

Looks like I'm dealing with the same issues as everyone else.

Most of the customers here are waiting 1-2 years for a solution, and no fix yet, so if you have the chance to return this product do it now.

Appreciate the help, @RXShorty.
Thanks for posting, @jobryan26 — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Hi Abigail, I installed an unmanaged switch (TP-Link TL-SG1008P) between my modem and the Google Nest WIFI Pro and now everything is working perfectly. If I remove it, the problem returns.
