1st Gen Google Wifi Connection Question

When I run a mesh test on my 1st Gen Google wifi (router & 3 satellites), I get a great connection to 2 of the satellites and a good connection to the 3rd even thought the 3rd is probably closer to the router than the others. See screenshot. What determines this and does it slow down wifi connection speeds to the device with the good connection?

The first referenced thread in olavrb’s response was helpful in understanding how mesh works. The 2nd link didn’t work for me. I’m still not sure why one of my access points gets a “good” connection where the other 2 get a “great” connection.

Hi Kentmcp,

Aside from having the points closer to the main router, it’s also important to take note of anything that could be blocking the signals like thick and dense walls, furniture or appliances. You can check this article for more details.

I moved my Google wifi devices around to different spots in the house and seem to have a better mesh connection now. Thanks.
