Nest Wifi Pro not connecting to WeMo and Epson printer

I recently upgraded to a Nest WiFi Pro. Now two sets of products that had worked fine with the non-Pro Nest Wifi are no longer connecting to WiFi, namely an Epson printer (ET-8500) and several WeMo smart plugs.

Please share any suggestions! Thank you.

This is more than likely a setting issue related to the devices, either at the device level or a setting enabled on the new Nest Wifi Pro.

These should help narrow it down:

Devices incompatible with Google Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, or Google Wifi devices

Dear @PatrickP_Viking , thanks so much for these links. I've looked through the articles and still haven't figured out why my printer and wemo remotes do not "see" the new Google Nest WiFi Pro. I contacted Epson, and the technician there said it should connect fine to the WiFi. When I have the printer look for WiFi connections, it now sees the Google Nest WiFi Pro guest network, but not the main one - so laptops in other rooms connected to the main WiFi can't print unless they disconnect from one network and reconnect to the other.

When I look at the device list on the Google Home app, there are actually quite a few that show up as Offline.

AbigailF, I'd welcome any other advice about how to get all the devices on the main Google Nest WiFi Pro network.

Yes, for the Epson printer I did a factory reset and started over. It still doesn't see the main Google Nest Wifi Pro network, only the guest network.

For the Wemo remote smart plugs, I've done a hard reset, but the Google Wifi app still doesn't "see" them.

Hey @Chris37 . I hope we can get this resolved. It appears to not be the Nest Wifi Pro since those devices are the only ones having issues.

I found a couple of things below regarding the Epson printer via their own documentation:

Changing a Wi-Fi Connection to a Wired Network Connection

Network Software Cannot Find Product on a Network

As far as the Wemo smart plugs, there is a lot less support documentation. Just out of curiousity, what is the device you are using to reconnect the Wemo with? iOS devices, due to default settings, have had issues seeing Nest Wifi products. If you are using an iOS device, see if these settings changes help. The article says "setup" but these settings seem to affect connecting devices via apps on iOS as well.

Hi, Jeff — Still having troubles getting the main network on my Google Nest Wifi Pro to connect to my Epson ET-8500 printer and WeMo remotes. In addition, I’ve noticed that my Apple HomePods tell me several times a day that they’re having trouble connecting to the internet. I typically have to reset them when that happens. I never had to do that with the old Google Nest Wifi system. I’m running out of ideas other than returning the Google Nest WiFi Pro and going back to the old Nest Wifi system.

Hello Chris37,

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.

Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.

Remove any special characters in your network name and password.

Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.

Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.

If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Hello and thank you. I’m not using a modem / router combination and have the nest WiFi pro hooked up directly to the cable. I do see several paused devices, however, and I don’t know why they paused.
