What ISP and modem?

Some ISPs requires them to whitelist the MAC address of your 3rd party router.

Some uses VLAN tags, which Nest Wifi does not support very well:

Often it's just that the ISP modem also acts as a router, and putting it into bridge mode or bypass mode fixes it. Nest Wifi does not always work with what's known as "double NAT".
