Hello

In trying to solve one issue, I now have another. We have the google nest wifi system and use 2 routers and 2 points due to our house and shop being disconnected by some distance. I also have a couple computers wired directly to the comcast router. I recently added a wireless printer to the google's wifi but was not able to add that printer to the computers on the wired connection. The original setup was like this:

Comcast router to google wifi router, other google wifi router plugged directly into other google wifi router. The wired computers were plugged directly into the comcast box (via a wired switch).

In an effort to get the printer working on the wired computers, I plugged the wired switch into the main wifi router and moved the second wifi router directly to the comcast box. That second router now has connection issues and says it has a weak WIRED mesh connection. I've tried factory resetting that router and setting it back up and it fails. Please help

Hello @huncky

The primary Nest WiFi Router unit (the one connected to your internet service) is a firewall + router that is creating a new "inner" network separate from the "outer" network created by your Comcast modem + router. For all of your devices to work properly, they all need to be connected to that same inner network. You're on the right track by putting the switch on the LAN port of the primary Nest WiFi Router, but you'll also need to connect the secondary Nest WiFi Router to that switch as well – not to the outer network. Basically, the primary Nest WiFi Router's WAN Ethernet port should be the only thing connected to your Comcast modem + router.

To add to what @MichaelP posted, you need to disable the router functionality on the Comcast Modem/Router as well or you will get a Double NAT situation and more problems. The below article will help you with setting the network up properly:

Hardwire Wifi devices with Ethernet
