Cannot add 7th Google WiFi device.

Previously, only 4 worked. I just got 2 additional from a 2nd set of 3 to work. Last one will not add. Just stays orange blinking light. When I power on, holding the reset button, it changes to blue blinking, then orange blinking. Nothing after that. Help!

Do you actually need that many? Maximum recommended amount of Nest Wifi units in wireless backhaul mode / mesh, is five.

Also note that the newer "Nest Wifi Pro" is not backward compatible with the older "Nest Wifi" and "Google Wifi".

And make sure all units are bought from and for the exact same region/country: Mixing US and EU units (for instance) won't work. This is also mentioned in the set up guide:

@chaoslover, I'm checking in to see if you are still in need of help. Like olavrb said, Google Wifi or Nest Wifi devices are designed to support up to a total of 5 routers and points per network; adding more may result in slower Wi-Fi speeds and unreliable connections.

Thank you both for your responses. I wasn't aware of the quantity cap. I figured the higher quantity would start to degrade at some point but never saw any specifications as to the maximum.

We have the first 1 in our Family Room, connected to Xfinity, with a television and a Sonos speaker; 1 in our Living Room with a Sonos speaker; 1 in our master bedroom with a television, a Fire TV, and 2 Alexa devices; 1 in our Kitchen with an Alexa device; 1 in our Office with a 4-port switch and 2 printers; and 1 in our Garage with an Alexa device. We were hoping to add 1 more in another room where we have computers.

I guess a new design and some moving around will be in order.

I haven't looked into the new series yet, Does the new Nest wi-fi devices support more? Do they support higher speeds? It would be nice if they could be placed in as many rooms as you needed and split off into a few LAN lines as well. I prefer printers and speakers to connect via LAN, but higher speeds may eclipse that need.

Hello chaoslover,

Appreciate the detailed information about your network setup! If only those devices are connected to your Google Wifi points, then you can try moving the access points no more than 2 rooms away. Also, our newer Nest Wifi Pro is a tri-band connection that supports up to 5.4 Gbps and can cover up to 2,200 sq. ft. per router; however, it also has the same cap of up to 5 routers in the mesh. This device has WAN and LAN ports, but if you'd like to add more LAN lights, you can use a network switch.
