Mesh Speed Issues on Devices

Ok so first off we have the 2nd Gen Nest set, with 3 total access points. Have great mesh connection throughout the house per the Home app. However, when I do a speed test on the App, it always shows that it is getting nearly the full 1GIG speed I pay for, however on devices like our TV, tablet, phone, desktops whenever I test their speed (even if I prioritize them), I get a FRACTION of that speed. I've looked to make sure nothing else was bogging down the speed, and while we have Echo Dots around, the active speed usage is miniscule.

Any idea how to fix this? It's absolutely killing the speed in the house, and driving me NUTS in the process.

I think this is normal. I pay for 500 mbps, my router is placed in the living room, and in the kitchen (Which is far) I have a point and I only receive 100 mbps on my devices over wifi. I believe (not entirely sure) this is because the mesh system is connected over wifi. In the Google home app(I have public preview so you might not have this feature) if you click on a device connected to the wifi it will show you which point it’s connected to and show the mbps the point is distributing.

So it says it supports/provides up to 1Gb service but only provides 1/10th of that? If that's the case, tis a bit of false advertising.

I don’t like the situation either, but if the speed is enough for device uses, I don’t believe it would be that big of an issue. Personally with the 500mbps I pay for, I get 450mbps near my router, 150mbps on my point which is decently distanced, and 95mbps on my 2nd point which is majorly far from the first point.

@BigHeadFoo, thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will remove all network data.
