Purchase a 3rd Nest Pro point?

I have a Nest Pro 3-pack (router + 2 points) and want to buy a 3rd point.

Any ideas?

Nest WiFi Pro units are all the same hardware. The one set up first – the one that is connected to your internet service directly via Ethernet – is the one that acts as the "router" (and firewall). The ones that are set up after that will act as "point" units. Point being, if you need another unit to act as a point, you can just buy a single Nest WiFi Pro and add it to your existing system. It's not like the older non-Pro Nest WiFi where the router and point hardware were different.

Thank you, @MichaelP ! I just don't want to pay $199 for a point, I don't want to pay for the internal router. 😕 Nest Wifi point is only $99.

If you have a Nest WiFi Pro system, then only Nest WiFi Pro units can be used to expand it. The older non-Pro Nest WiFi and "Google WiFi" units are not compatible.

I guess I should have asked: [I want to buy a Nest Pro router + 3 points]. Would this be $400 for 3-pak + $200 for another router? $600?????

Yes, that looks like the current pricing on the U.S. Google store, though the three pack may be out of stock at the moment. I would probably try starting with just the three pack, placing them according to the optimal advice (primary/router in the center of your home with the two secondaries one room away from the primary – close enough to get a strong 6GHz connection to the primary; from there they will provide 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz coverage to more distant clients). Then decide whether you really need one more. Keep in mind you can connect the secondaries back to the primary via Ethernet instead, which would let you place them further away. This is helpful in a larger home or one built with solid interior walls (brick, concrete, plaster, etc.).

All our Nest Wifi Pro devices can act as a router and a point, unlike the Nest Wifi Point that couldn’t work without a Nest Wifi router. I understand your point with the price difference. I suggest signing up here so you’re updated about Google Store’s offers in case we have a sale for the Nest Wifi Pro.

Google needs to do a better job of describing each device as a combo router/point. There is no Nest Wifi Pro point only. Then we can better understand why each device costs $199, with no $99 point available.
