How to configure google wifi to allow icmp ping

I am using google wifi as my home network gateway. I've setup an ubuntu server at home and Want to test the remote connection speed by pinging that host. How do i redirect the icmp ping traffic to that host and bypass any firewall in the google wifi setup?

Ping is not blocked between LAN devices. Are you running double NAT? Trying to ping a device that is not on your Google Wifi LAN?

Hello @MuWayne

It sounds like you're trying to ping an internal host (one inside your Google WiFi network) from outside your network (e.g., from the public internet). Since ICMP (the protocol that provides "echo request" and "echo reply") is not based on TCP or UDP, these messages do not go through typical firewalls like Google WiFi (some ICMP message types do, but not those). If you know you can reach your internal server via TCP, a tool like "tcping" might be worth a look. There should be versions of that tool available for a few different platforms.
