Where do find if my google wifi has 2.5k available for devices (a smoker) that require it to link to a smart phone (S-22)?

Hey KCOC,

If you're referring to the 2.4GHz band, then yes, Google WiFi supports that wireless standard. Google and Nest WiFi support the 2.4GHz and 5GHZ bands simultaneously (and Nest WiFi Pro adds 6GHz too). Devices that need either of those bands will be able to connect to your Google WiFi setup. If you have any other questions, just let me know.

I was wondering where you find it. I had an issue one time witha product and the guy from another country told me I needed to get into my wifi and assign 2.4 hz to this product and make sure it wasnt 5.0.. Is there a way to get to that from my app or somewhere I can see it..

Hi folks,

@KCOC, your Google Wifi router and points use the same name for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band networks. This means that the Wi-Fi network uses both radio bands. But keep in mind: while both bands can be used, the personal devices (a smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) will connect to only one radio band at any given time. Nest Wifi, Google Wifi, or Nest Wifi Pro attempts to select the band that will deliver the best performance for your device. Currently there is no option to manually disable either of the bands or to connect to them separately.

Give these steps a whirl:

Create a hotspot with a mobile phone. Take note that 2 mobile phones are required. Use the first device to create a hotspot (mobile phone). How to set up a mobile hotspot:

Android

Go to Settings.
Tap the Network & internet option.
Select Hotspot & tethering.
Tap on Wi-Fi hotspot.
Set up the hotspot name and password the same as the primary network.
Choose the AP Band > 2.4 GHz band > Apply.

iOS

Go to Settings.
Tap on Cellular. Tap the slider to turn Cellular Data on.
Under Cellular, tap the slider to turn Personal Hotspot on.
Tap the slider next to Allow Others to Join.
Set up the hotspot name password the same as the primary network.
To change the hotspot password, under Personal Hotspot Wi-Fi Password.
To change the hotspot name, go to Settings > General > About > Name.

Once done with the first mobile device’s hotspot:

Use the second device to connect to the mobile hotspot.
Disconnect all of the Google Wifi or Nest Wifi points from the power outlet.
Connect the device to the 2.4 GHz band of the hotspot with the same SSID and password of the current network (case sensitive).
Once connected to the hotspot, plug in your primary Google Wifi point or the Nest Wifi router.
Turn off the hotspot and check if the device automatically connects to the Google Wifi network.

What i had to do with a device that would only connect via 2.4 was i had to go out the the edge of my wifi (like out in the road) and reconnect to wifi to access the 2.4 signal because apparently it goes out farther then the 5. It took me forever to findnout how to do this. Hope it helps

Thank you for the reply. I had issues with a security system cameras and the help line was in Thialand or somewhere (heard roosters in the background), and thats what he was saying but because of the heavy accent it took a few tries to get what he was saying. ):(.. Apparently Google is auto connect with whatever the system needs.
