Nest Wifi Pro Ejecting 2.4GHz Devices

for a while, i thought I was in good shape after upgrading to nest Wifi Pro from the Nest Wifi. Continously, all 2.4GHz devices seem to drop off around same time and are no longer able to reconnect until a restart of the network.

I performed a complete reset of my Nest Wifi Pro and the issues started again after 48 hours post-reset.

Hey Sagurski,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Please confirm if you’ve done all the steps below:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will delete all network data.
You can skip any step if you've done it already.

No double NAT.

Verified good placement (single point).

IPv6 is off.

Set DNS.

Did factory reset and was good for 48 hours then issue started again (all 5/6 GHz devices remain connected, but all 2.4GHz drop until restart ).

My gut says it’s Google’s attempts to push devices to try higher bandwidth frequencies that causes issue (more software/firmware than hardware).

Trying DHCP IP reservations for critical 2.4GHz items to see if that helps.

So far, so good. Now 3 days post change (dhcp reservations for nest door lock, nest door bell, and nest thermostat).

Unfortunately, the ip reservations didn’t seem to matter as I’ve had all 2.4GHz devices drop again, requiring a restart of the Nest Pro Wi-Fi.
