It’s happening… again! It’s been awhile since the intermittent dropping occurred, but it’s back again. Please don’t respond with router settings because just like before, NO NETWORK SETTING CONTROLS HAVE CHANGED. ISP connection is consistent and verified by hard wiring to modem. No new devices have joined the network. I have disconnected all google wifi points and still dropping continues with main router. Factory reset via the google home app and hard factory reset via the router has been completed. Dropping stops for about an hour then continues.

Device: Google Nest Wifi

Model: H2D

Software version: 14150.376.32

App version 3.4.103

Total devices connected before dropping occurs: 21

Device connections: 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz

Same here.

Comcast to the house, an Arris SB8200 moden, a Google Nest (HD2) router with 5 access points throughout the house. About 6 months ago was losing connectivity constantly; connected wtih Google Nest over Twitter and via DMs, they had me change my primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and the secondary to 8.8.4.4. It worked up until this past week.

Was on the phone with Comcast for an hour yesterday and it remains unclear where the problem lies. It doesn't help that I "own" my moden vs. "rent" it from Comcast, as they claim that they cannot fully support it. However, after spending 2 hours online today conducting various searches, it seems like the Google Nest may not be all its cracked up to be. Disappointing, as I WFH and enjoy an occasional XBOX game.

I have grown so tired of my Nest wifi setup. Constantly have issues with it being extremely slow on Wi-Fi and a random point drops at least a few times a week. Have to unplug the satellites as a network reset doesn't fix it. I'm looking for a replacement for the network. Never had such unreliable equipment before. Always been a fan of Google, and have quite a bit in the ecosystem, but this has sullied my opinion. Guess it's time to move on.

I'm in the same boat, Bob13. It's a "tax free" weekend here in MA and I'd love to pull the trigger and go in a different direction, but I'm holding out hope given the money (1 router, 6 access points) and and time spent thus far. I've opened a support ticket with "wificare" and thus far they've asked me to move the access points closer to the router; which, frankly, is a bit nonsensical given that they've been working ok thus far (save for similar issues ~6 months ago) and have not been physically moved. Further, we live in a moderately-sized house (~2500 sq feet) and the access points are logically spread out.

I'm hoping that we're going to go through the basic troubleshooting tips and then perhaps escalate where they can start looking at my actual configurations.

Same issue for me. My set up has been rock solid until about 3 months ago and then the dropouts started and it got to the point I had to restart the network pretty much everyday. Have now hard wired 2 of the points which has helped but there are still dropouts which makes me think the issue is with the Google WiFi router connected to the modem

Quick update: received a follow-up from wifecare and they are requesting that I change the password on my Google Wifi network. Does anyone else find this bizarre? While incredibly tedious and time-consuming, I am committed to resolving this problem; if that means turning over every stone then so be it. However, this seems like a huge stretch with little chance of identifying a solution.

Hi folks,

That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have and apologies for the delay. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.

Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.

Remove any special characters in your network name and password.

Turn off IPv6:

Open the Google Home app Google Home app.

Tap the Wi-Fi coin and then Settings Settings.

Scroll down and tap Advanced networking.

Scroll down to IPv6.

Toggle the switch off Toggle button off.

Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.

Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.

If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will delete all network data.

You may skip any step that you’ve done already.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
