topic Nest security - Password and booting users from the network in Nest Wifi

Hi All,

I have a strange thing happening on my network, and can't seem to find a solution. An iphone 6s has (somehow) gained access to my network and is downloading and uploading constantly. I couldn't figure out how to kick it from the network itself, so I changed the network name and password.

About a week later, the same iPhone 6s joined the network again, and the save behaviour has continued.

The MAC and IP are listed in the app. Is there any way that I can block/blacklist it from the network? I have "paused" it, but not sure how long that lasts/if that's the right thing to do.

Also just to confirm, not a single iPhone in the house, and I can account for every other connected device. This is an unknown unit. I live in a block of apartments, so it's potentially a neighbour.. how they got access to my network twice is beyond me.

Would really appreciate any help!

Thanks 🙂

Google Wifi and Nest Wifi don't have a feature to "block" devices. If the device knows your Wifi network password, it will be able to connect, just the same as other Wifi products.

We really can't help identifying how it's reconnecting if you're saying you've already changed the Wifi password. Your new password must have made it's way onto that iPhone somehow.

You could try creating a group and pausing the device, but it's fairly trivial to bypass this unfortunately.
