I have a mesh network composed by 2 NEst Wifi Pro.

I have attched a lot of devices:

2 cellphones

1 smartTV

6 air conditioning

The problem is that my Windows 11 Laptop, is able to connect to the wifi BUT with NO INTERNET access. The curious thing is that this device is not visible in my Goolge Home app even if is connected.

I found another similar issue in the community and they proposed 2 solutions:

- changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1

- tunr off WPA3

Unfortunately both suggestions didn't work.

Is also worth mention that the same Laptop is able to connect to my main WIFI, the one from the main router, I have this problem with the mesh wifi only.

Any ideas?

Can you access the router and check it's configuration? I had a similar problem at setup, WiFi but no connection. The issue was my laptop was expecting a different subnet. On your laptop check your IP address. Is it what you expect? If not, either change your laptop settings or the router so they match. If on the router, remember to save the settings! It's the little disk icon. On my phone it was at the top right of the screen. I neglected to save it the first time. The router will restart with the new settings. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the aswer.

I was able this morning to fix the issue and the solution was simple but not so obvious.

I just connected the laptop to the Nest Wifi Pro via cable and after doing that, seems like the DHCP was able to handle the device and include it in the network.

I'm still figuring out if the fix is permanent of it will happen again when the device and/or the Nests will reboot.

I really hope this helps other people!

Hello matt_bg,

That's excellent news! It's great that connecting the laptop via cable helped resolve the issue with the DHCP server not recognizing it. This solution could definitely be helpful for others facing similar concerns with Nest Wifi Pro.

While it's impossible to say for sure whether the fix is permanent without further observation, there's a good chance it might be. Connecting via cable essentially "forces" the communication with the DHCP server, ensuring it recognizes the device and assigns it an appropriate IP address. This might have refreshed the device's information in the server's cache, potentially resolving the issue.

For future questions and concerns, don't hesitate to leave a message. We're here to help.

Thanks for helping, soandso!

Cheers,

Thanks Dan for your feedback!

Unfortunately the solution is not permanent, every couple of days I have to connect the laptop by cable again because it "loses" his address..

I have zero clue about why this disconnection happen but I'll keep it cheked!

Bye!

Hey matt_bg,

It’s been a few days already; how have you been? How’s your connection doing? Is it still the laptop that’s losing its connection to your Wi-Fi? If so, would it be helpful to have someone check your laptop as well? Let’s try all the steps to isolate if the issue is just with your laptop or some other factor.

Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Dan
