Google Wifi Pro Throttling Devices Unnecessarily Part 2

Hello again,

I'm once again having this same issue where my devices are being severely throttled while they are not "prioritized" on the network.

I thought it had been resolved but it's once again bad enough that my spouse and I can't have meetings with video calls simultaneously because only one of our computers can be prioritized at any given moment.

Why does a device get throttled down to below 20 Mbps when I get over 500 Mbps from my ISP? Nothing else is competing for all that bandwidth.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nest Wifi uses fq_codel for QoS. Previously the bandwidth threshold for whether it should be enabled was 300mbps. QoS is applied individually for up and down, so in theory if you have 500mbps down and 20mbps up, QoS will be applied for upload only.

Maybe the threshold of 300mbps has changed. Here's some insight from the past:

Thanks for the help here, olavrb.

Caldazar, thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your Nest Wifi Pro connectivity issues. We'll work together to identify the cause of the problem and find a solution. To cover all the bases, could you please try changing the DNS of your Google Wifi mesh network? Here's how:

Open the Google Home app.
Tap the WiFi icon then select Setting
At the bottom, choose Advanced Networking
Tap on DNS then Custom DNS.
Enter in Primary server 8.8.8.8 and Secondary server 8.8.4.4
Select Save.

Let's also ensure that Nest WiFi cloud services are currently enabled. Here's the step:

open the Google Home app
Tap WiFi and then Settings
Choose Privacy settings
Toggle Nest Wifi cloud service off then on and tap Save.

Hello Juni,

I went through those steps, and unfortunately, the problem still persists.

The speed test on my PC was still about 18 Mbps down and up, while the speed test for the whole network showed about 830 down and 20 up in the Google Home app. I'd post the screenshots but I don't seem to be able to.
