Thanks for posting all that wonderful information...you're in the minority of users. ❤️ however the "modem" you have is actually an "evil" thing known as a gateway ( modem and router all in one) . A gateway makes it easy for the ISP to manage and for a customer to setup....as well as a way for the ISP to profit in rental fees.

I recommend and applaud the decision to purchasing a modem that matches the speed you pay for for 50-100 dollars ( netgear I've had good experience with).

This will save you on the equipment fee as well. Best perk is ....you learn what a modem actually is in the process and are not paying the ISP a monthly fee. Note: google wifi pro only supports 1 gigbit for it's ethernet...so if you're paying for more than 1 gigbit....consider downgrading and saving a few bucks.

List of modems and activation instructions:
https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects_2/my_device/Full-List-of-Compatible-Devices.pdf
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-app-activation

For now proceed with bridging the xfinity "modem" using these instructions.

Please follow these instructions from xfinity while connected to the xfninity "modem" via ethernet preferably . note this will disable the wifi on their "quality" hardware following this change.

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode

let me know if you have any questions and what your results are...in detail ^_^.

Hello all - here is the situation.

The modem: Xfinity XFi white tower (2023 model)

The router & extenders: Google Nest (2021 models)

The app: Google Home

The situation: I had the XFi tower connected to my Google Nest router with the Ethernet cable at my previous residence and didn't chance the XFi at all when I set it up. I was able to set up the Nest router and 3 extenders with no issues. I moved homes and simply disconnected everything and brought it to the new home. I set up the XFi tower and have wifi throughout the house. The connection is there with 3 strong bars, but not in rooms where I want the extenders. I hard reset the Nest router and extenders with a long push on the reset button and the light blinked yellow, then went out, then was solid yellow for a long time, and then pulsing white - which I assume from the past is the setup mode. I connect the router with the XFi tower and Google Home recognizes the Nest router, but when I move to the next step in set up, I get this error message:

"Network is offline. Make sure your wifi router is online and connected to your modem. If you recently factory reset your wifi router, you'll need to remove your network from the app. In the Home tab, tap the Wifi button. Go to Settings and factory reset your network."

Well.... the router is online and connected (the XFi tower). I have strong wifi with it in various rooms. On Google Home, there is no Wifi button since there's no wifi associated (I reset it both on the app and the physical unit). There is no network in Settings to reset. I deleted the app and reinstalled - no solution. I turned the XFi unit completely off and on again - no solution. I reset the Nest router again - no solution. I changed out Ethernet cords - no solution.

What is the solution? Do I need to buy fresh router and extenders since these are "contaminated" in some way?
