Can Google Nest WiFi be Integrated with Google Mesh?

I have recently installed Google Nest WiFi with two points and it is working well. I need a wired connection to my music server and am wondering if I can connect a Mesh Point (1st gen.) to my Nest system. The points on Mesh first gen. have ethernet out, there are none on the Nest points.

For various reasons, I cannot run a cable from my Nest modem to the music server.

So will the Nest system recognize and connect to the 1st gen Mesh point?

Hello @audio52

Yes, you can add Google WiFi units to a Nest WiFi system, and when you do that, their Ethernet ports are available for nearby wired devices. If it's a brand new Google WiFi unit, just follow the workflow to add a "point" in the Google Home app. If it was part of a working system previously, factory reset it first.

Thanks for your reply. I've checked online and haven't found any retailers that sell just the Mesh Point (many sell the router). However, I have found a used one. What is the procedure to do a factory reset?

Google WiFi units are what you want. Whether they are a "router" or a "point" depends on how they were set up. Nest WiFi Point units can only be points (because they don't have Ethernet ports). So, make sure you are buying the right thing (and you should have no trouble find new single Google WiFi units for sale – the Google store has them for $99 right now: https://store.google.com/config/google_wifi?hl=en-US ).

But, a used one should work, too, if you trust the seller. If you do get a used one, you'll need to use the factory reset button method (rather than doing the reset through the app): https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en

It looks like they've changed the procedure somewhat, depending on what firmware version the unit has. If it's been in use relatively recently, it should have the latest firmware and you can follow the first set of instructions. But, if it's been unused for awhile, you might need to follow the second set of instructions.
