Arlo Pro Base Station operating on 2.4Ghz suddenly stopped latching to my Google Mesh.

hi,

I have an Arlo Pro Base Station that only operates on 2.4Ghz. It's been working for years, and now stopped latching to my Google Mesh on or around Oct 20th.

Reported to Arlo Support and opened a case, and spent 3 hours troubleshooting. Arlo suspected the Google Mesh router no longer broadcast 2.4Ghz. Not sure whether there was any SW update that eliminated the 2.4Ghz.

Now I have an Arlo Pro that's not able to function without router not having 2.4Ghz.

I did all the troubleshooting from unplugging and plugging cable to the modem, power cycle both modem and Arlo base station, checking all kind of property configuration and to no avail.

Desperately need my Arlo back.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Arlo Pro Base Station isn't working properly on the 2 GHz band. Let me help you with this.

To rule out Double Network Address Translation (NAT), please let me know if you're using a modem/router combo.

Some 2.4 GHz-only devices can have connection issues on networks broadcasting multiple bands simultaneously. Let's try creating a 2.4 GHz hotspot to connect your Arlo Pro Base Station:

Hotspot Setup:

You'll need two mobile devices:

Create a hotspot:

Android:

Go to Settings > Network & internet > Hotspot & tethering > Wi-Fi hotspot.
Set up the hotspot with the same SSID and password as your primary network.
Choose the 2.4 GHz band.

iOS:

Go to Settings.
Tap Cellular, turn on Cellular Data, and turn on Personal Hotspot.
Turn on "Allow Others to Join."
Set the hotspot to the same SSID and password as your primary network.
To change the password, go to Personal Hotspot > Wi-Fi Password.
To change the name, go to Settings > General > About > Name.

Connect Your Device:

Disconnect all Wi-Fi devices from the power outlet.
Connect the device to the 2.4 GHz hotspot using the same SSID and password as your primary network (case-sensitive).
Once connected, plug in your primary Wi-Fi router.
Turn off the hotspot and see if the device automatically connects to your WiFi network.
