So I've been having tons of issues lately with my nest pro. All devices are hardwired and I've been blaming my nest hardware.... But are my dropout issues because of my modem?

I have concast.... paying for I think 750mbps. Have Google nest pro (one router and 2 hubs) all connected with a strong mesh connection. But I keep having Wi-Fi reliability issues. Hardwire devices are fine only wifi

Is it maybe my modem? I have an older Surfboard sbv3202....it's docsis3.0 because when I got Comcast maybe 5 years ago I needed moca adapters. Now I don't have the need for moca. Would upgrading to a new modem with docsis 3.1 (thinking the hitron coda56) help my wi-fi in any way?

Hi Enzodast,

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is the same. Let's work together for a solution.

If so, it's possible you're experiencing interference from your new modem when trying to broadcast WiFi with your Google Nest Router. To troubleshoot this, I recommend putting your new modem into bridge mode.

**Bridge mode allows you to continue receiving internet from your provider while deactivating the Wi-Fi network. This will leave you with only the network you've created using your Google Nest Router.

Once in bridge mode, try the following:

Factory reset the Nest Points.

Attempt to add them to your Google Nest network again.

I've included an image that illustrates a possible cause of your current issue based on your previous descriptions

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin

I don't have a modem/router combo. So this will not work. I have a coda modem...modem only. So there's no way to get Wi-Fi if I turn off the nest pros. I can turn off the nest pros and get hard wired Internet straight from the modem... That's rock solid. So this troubleshooting suggestion won't work in my situation

Hi Enzodast,

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is the same. Let's work together for a solution.

For your concern, please try the below steps:

Remove any spaces or special characters from the SSID or password, if there are any. The SSID and password are both case-sensitive, and if there are special characters or spaces, it might cause connection issues.

Special characters could be apostrophes, commas, underscores, quotation marks, and UTF-8 (emojis).

Run a mesh test to check the connection of the points. If they get a "weak" rating, please try to change the location of the points.

Run a 2-minute power cycle.

Disconnect the modem from its power source.

Unplug the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.

Remove the power cord from the child point.

Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.

Try to change the password on Google's WiFi network.

Change the DNS to ISP.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

did all of this....still having dropouts occasionally. My wife sees it on her laptop and it's very apparent on my cell phone as it happens while i'm connected to a game. Once the game loses connection it literally says "lost connection" and forces me to exit and go back in. when gaming on my 4g or 5g cell connection i NEVER have a dropout while gaming...i really shouldn't be gaming on cellular when i have 6g wifi 15 feet away...what else can it be? is it the hardware?

i've done every troubleshooting step on reddit or on this forum. nothing is fixing the problem. tried new cables, tried wireless, tried different locations, still seeing dropped connections. i've called tech support many times....exchanged many notes with people on here. at this point i would LOVE a refund of the hardware or send me some new access points and see if they fix my problem. i think the hardware is defective.

Under preferred activities in the Google Home app, see if you have video conferencing checked. If you do, uncheck and restart. I used to have similar issues and once I unchecked that box, I rarely had dropouts, if any at all.
