I'm running a google nest wifi mesh system. It's been a little spotty but this time is different. It all started when I found out 1 smart plug got removed from google home. In an attempt to reconnect it I couldn't. I thought maybe it's a faulty plug so I had a spare and tried that, same issue. Then I went to try and connect to my guest network, no dice, back to the main one, no dice. Shortly story long, it's better with no points but something really odd has happened to the network - devices take up to 20 minutes to connect, points have issues connecting and its super unstable. Lots of restarts, plugging one pod in at a time. Curious if anybody has run into issues of late. I don't think there was a firmware update but it's as if firmware or virus got into it.

Hi jroyale,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your Google Nest Wifi system is suddenly unstable. It sounds like the issue started with a single smart plug and has now escalated to a complete network breakdown, with devices struggling to connect even after you've tried removing the mesh points. I can imagine how inconvenient this situation must be and I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot this issue. No worries, I’d be happy to help you with this!

To better investigate this situation, I'd like to ask for some additional information:

Do you use a modem or a modem/router combo?

What is the make and model of your modem, and who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

Have you noticed any error messages or alerts for your Nest Wifi points within the Google Home app?

Have you tried running a mesh test? If so, what are the results?

Have there been any recent changes to your network at the time you first noticed the instability?

Can you confirm which port on your modem the Nest Wifi router is plugged into? Is it a WAN or LAN port?

Is the Wi-Fi name you created for your Google Mesh different from your ISP's network name?

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
