I have two ISPs. Spectrum and Google Fiber. I have 35 devices of various kinds (all controlled with Alexa) mixed among the networks and use Google Wifi points to reach the whole house. Each network (Spectrum and Google) has five Google brand wifi points. As I have added plugs, lights, Wifi points, etc. over the years I have paid no attention to which network they are on. I am now told I cannot work through the Google Wifi app but must migrate my network to Google Home. Must I now hire SuperGeek to untangle my mess, or can I migrate and just go on as always (fingers crossed)?

I mean, quick answer is you should be able to log into Google home and everything being there, nothing to do but keep going. Were it me I would take the opportunity to merge everything onto one network, but to each their own!

Thanks very much. I assume I shall do what they tell me to do. I have two networks for redundancy because of the odd outage and my reliance for my business on wifi. I suppose my great fear is the failure of my gadgets necessitating my getting out of bed to turn off the lights when I am through reading. Ah, me. Another first world hardship.

Well, I gave it a try. I found instructions which said I should open the Google Home App and click on the + in the upper left hand corner to migrate a network. No +. Anywhere. Instead I got a list of (presumably) hundreds of manufacturers of wifi controlled home devices for me to check and import individually. Nope. Thanks very much for the assistance. I'll just use the Google Wifi app until nothing at all works anymore. The comet may be here by then.

I just wanted to chime in real fast. While in the WiFi app, are you seeing a prompt to switch over to the Home app?

Yes. When I poke it, it says "invite a home member". ?. Then it offers the opportunity for me to add, by brand, my devices, then I can link some streaming services, then it says "import Google Wifi network". I live in deep horror that if I follow these prompts all my Alexa routines will not work, so I do not persist. Do you, perhaps, have some welcome assurance to offer?

That is definitely a valid fear! Let me double check on that before answering. I would imagine that recreating those routines could be quite a process if you have a lot set up.

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh.

While the Google Wifi app will no longer be in app stores or supported at this point, you can still control your Google Wifi devices on the Google Home app.
