Can not change device name in Wifi- iOS

I can not change my device name in the wifi device list. I can change the name, but when I save it or hit the back button I get the following error message, “ an error has occurred when updating your device name. Please try again in a few seconds”. I get this error message every single time. Any help or suggestions on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated it.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with renaming your devices. I'd love to know more about this, and I have a few questions:

What is the OS version of your device?
Have you tried checking if there's an update for the Google Home app?

I have the latest version of iOS 15.3.1 and also have the latest version of the google home app.
