I cannot connect my Nest Protect to Google Home.

should I send it back?

I see nothing that shows any plans for Google Home to support Nest Protect.

I see reference to Google with ADT?

Why is Google still selling a product that they no longer are supporting ???

Nest Protect is fully supported by Google, you add it to and manage it with the Nest app. Some products cannot be migrated to the Google Home app (yet), this is one of them.

I was hoping to use Google Nest Protect for Home automation to turn on our house lights when a fire alarm goes off which currently is not possible with Google Home Protect. Unfortunately when I bought it I mistakenly presumed it worked with Google Home.
🌟I found a workaround.
The Wyze Pan Cam has an option to listen for T3 (smoke) & T4(CO) alarms and it can optionally send a notification that can be used in home automation to turn on lights, etc. to help us get out of the house and/or determine the issue and address it faster.

This request has been in play ever since Google Home was introduced. At one time we were told that existing products had top priority for migration to Google Home. Long way of saying look for a work around. Google Home does see the Protects and they can be used for presence sensing, (see settings), but little else.

You can actually use the script editor to create an automation that does what you're looking for.

Your response feels very much like gaslighting. How does Google claim it fully supports the Nest Protect when it does not have migration into Google Home? I can't even get notifications on my Nest app on my android phone.

Your mention of this script editor per the very link you provided is only functional in "public preview" (aka beta) so it is not really a viable solution.

I did at one point attempt the presence detection feature but no way to add the Nest Protect.

So do I even dare ask if Google has actually progressed in any development whatsoever in the Nest Protect?

I would return these if you're still in the return period. If they won't take them back, i'd personally feel like these were sold and marketed deceptively and your bank might suthorize a chargeback. (I looked at the packaging / marketing recently and it doesn't mention specifically that it is designed for google home, but it deceptively showed zoomed in app screenshots and failed to mention the nest app by name. Almoat as if to hide the lack of support and get the customer to assume that it'd work in Google Home.

This thread is where a google employee uses the word roadmap in their response claiming adding the protects to home is planned.

The thread was open for 1 year, 7 months, 16 days before getting a response, and was attempted to be locked multiple times, and was eventually locked despite our protest at 375 replies. It's now been another 10? 11? Months with zero progress.
