How to connect Nest Protect smoke alarms to Google Home app?

I just bought a new Nest Gen 4 Thermostat. It’s not supported by the Nest app. So I had to set up my thermostats in the Google Home app. Now I can’t find my Nest Protect smoke alarms in the Google Home app.

SOOO how do I connect the smoke alarms to the Google Home app? Or do I now have to use two different apps for my Google Nest products?

Google's Nest Protects are still supported only by the Google Nest app, so you'll need to use 2 apps, unfortunately.

We've been using 2 apps for our Google Nest cameras and doorbells ever since we got a 2nd gen Google Nest Battery Camera in Sept. 2021.

I just upgraded to the Nest 4th Generation a few days ago as well. Although I love the Thermostat, I'm not a fan of the Google Home app. For one, itbdoes not display the current outdoor temperature anywhere on the app. I called support and was told it is not a feature on the app. I also noticed the same issue with the Nest Protect Smoke Detectors, not being able to migrate them to the Google Home app. Again, I love the new Thermostat but I'm really not liking yhe Google Home app at all.

Yup. I too like the thermostats. And I like the Nest app. But as new products and upgrades are not supported by the Nest app, we are all going to be migrated to the Google Home app, which I agree is not as good a thermostat app as the Nest app. Classic piece of en**bleep**ification. Anyway, you and the previous respondent have confirmed that I’m not being done. This is a product issue and not user error.

I just spent the last hour on chat trying to migrate my nest protect CO/smoke detectors to Google Home. The person just recommended steps that I already tried several times. When he could no longer offer any other suggestions, I asked him if was even possible to migrate these devices, because from everything I’ve read it’s not possible. His response was try in a few days and it will work. I asked him if Google had a fix for the problem. His response: “ is there anything else I can help you with?” It appears this is a problem that has been ongoing for several years and Google has no interest or intention of resolving.

I've had a similar experience, I reached out to ask why the current weather is not on the Google Home thermostat app when that is something vital. I basically received the exact same response you did regarding the CO/Smoke alarms. I too have the Nest CO/Smoke alarms and now have to use three separate apps to get the information I would get from the NEST app. I really like the NEST products but I am not of a fan of the Google Home app.
