Just bought some smoke alarms, but two (of three) of my current wired alarms have two sets of wires going into them. I assume this is so that all three can talk to each other should one go off, the Google alarms don't need these wires, so I am not sure what to do with the 'spare / extra' wires once I have connected the new alarms.

Grateful for any help,

Thanks!

Hello, spalf

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. We are so happy to assist you with your questions about the Nest Protect.

Based on the information that you shared with us, Hold the white wire ends together, cap them with a wire connector, and twist clockwise until it’s secure. Do the same with the black wires. If there are any extra wires, you won’t need them. Cap them with wire connectors.

Please check the next image.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Kevin
