Hi Guys

Does anyone know something about the production of the Nest Protect?
Can`t find them anywhere to buy in Germany or UK (GoogleStore or 3rd Party).

Are they still in production?
Is there a release date for 3rd Gen?

I would avoid investing in any Nest Protects if you can still find them. There has been a lack of official communication from Google about the status of the Nest Protects, but any time us customers try to ask for info, it's like pulling teeth.

The Protects are only just starting to appear in BETA versions of Google Home. The Gen 2 is almost a decade old now. There is zero mention of a Gen 3 and from the signs I've seen on this forum and elsewhere, the Nest Protects look more and more like they'll become quietly end of life'd.

New purchases in the US have been getting items that are several years old, eating into the expiration date.

For the moment, it's not available in Germany. There's no specific timeframe for its availability. I will inform you when it becomes available.

Zero in Australia, called Google and zero help on the matter and wouldn’t comment on whats going on or when stock is going to be available

A user mentioned the warranty support contact numbers are no longer in service. I'm in the US and just a customer so cannot verify, but suspect support may be abandoned there.

That article specifically mentions the Beta (Preview] version of Google Home. While that is a start, this is a life safety device, not a consumer product. Asking users to use a development version of Home is insufficient.

Without any clear communication from Google, we have no way to know their intentions, and as such, I still cannot recommend anyone spend any money on new Nest Protects.

Fair enough, but could be seen as a positive first step. Glass half full/empty type of discussion I guess
