Cannot connect Protect to wifi

I got a new router and my 2 protects won't connect. I deleted them from my app and they will not connect even through new setup. My Thermostat connects fine.

I had to load my Nest Protect to a new Home location on the app. worked fine after that. So I have one Home location for my thermostats and one for the Nest Protects. I'm not sure whether they will speak to each other if the smoke alarm goes off with this configuration and haven't received an answer asking that question, but at least they are now connected.

Jake, I still don't know the answer for whether my Nest Protects on Home location #1 will alert my Nest thermostats on Home location #2 if a fire, smoke or CO alarm exists. All are on the same WIFI and in the same residence, but the only way I could get my Nest Protects to connect was by setting up a separate Home location. That is the issue.

Curious whether you set it up with a iPhone or an Android phone?

Back when we added out protect we also had to put it in a separate home using an iPhone. More recently I set up a friend's Protect using her Samsung phone and it added no problems.

Was either with an iPhone or a MacBookPro. We no longer use Samsung or Android.

Might not be your problem, but my Nest app wouldn't load at all. It would spin and then say it couldn't connect. I could run the test and both would respond and test okay. Everything else on my Google Home was working (20+ devices). I finally figured out that my router had changed the WiFi channel. Mine are battery and I took out a battery for 15 seconds and reinstalled it. Everything works now. Most devices will search when they lose signal. Evidently Nest smoke/CO2 detectors don't.
