No notifications on 16 pro iOS 18.5

When I first installed the nest, I got notifications and the options for silence. The nest protect doesn’t differentiate between cooking and a fire and I no longer get notifications, I have to go waft it like any other smoke alarm.

No smoke detector can differentiate between cooking and a fire.

Do you have a Protect installed in your cooking area or nearby? Smoke detectors should never be installed in a cooking area; therefore, only a heat detector can be installed there.

Wasn’t that the whole pitch for the nest protect- an alarm that knows the difference between a fire and burnt toast? No, it is not in my kitchen.

Anyway, my main query was why I don’t get any notifications. The only one I get is to tell me it’s doing a sound check.
