Best replacement for Nest Protect

I'm advised that my 2 Nest Protects have now expired and that they are no longer manufactured.

The Google recommended replacement is only available in the USA and Canada for some unknown reason.

Can anybody recommend a replacement that can be purchased in the UK?

It really seems daft that a company such as Google can stop manufacturing without having a succession policy in place for their products outside of 1 small market.

@Geofftswin I've been searching for a little while and from what I can see there isn't a like for like replacement available in the UK unfortunately, at least not yet anyway.

Same, one of our Nests spontaneously developed a crack in the outer case after a sound test. Looking for a replacement but it seems we will have to exit the ecosystem and look elsewhere, and will have a household of mixed devices, which is annoying, but also less safe.

Same problem here, but in Canada. I can order the replacement unit shipped from the USA with massive extra fees, but it isn't available for sale anywhere in Canada yet.
