Hi @Keith33,

Thanks for posting in the community forum. I understand you're looking for the specifications for the fire temperature actions and alerts for your Nest Protect 2nd gen. It's great that you're being so thorough for the fire inspector. I appreciate the information shared. No worries, I'd be more than glad to answer all your questions.

The Nest Protect is an advanced smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, it's not designed to be a dedicated heat detector. It uses a heat sensor as part of its algorithm to detect fires, but it won't trigger an alert based on a specific temperature reading alone. Instead, it analyzes the rate of temperature rise to help distinguish between a real fire and a false alarm, like steam from a shower. I recommend you visit the following article for detailed specifications: Protect technical specifications. This article covers the technical specifications and features of the Nest Protect, including how it handles temperature changes and alerts.

I hope this helps you find the information you need.

Cheers,
Jonathan

We have a Nest Protect v2 installed in our garage, which just had a solar battery installed. The fire inspector is asking about the specifications for the fire temperature actions and alerts of the Nest Protect devices. The questions are:

1) what are the specifications if any for alerting on a temperature rapid rise.

2) what are the specifications for the fire high temperature alerting - at what temperature is an alert sent.

Essentially they want to know how it operates like a typical heat sensor that might have the following specifications.

Heat Alarms on the other hand do not rely on detecting particles, they monitor the air and will alarm when the temperature reaches a fixed 135º F (57º C) or when the microprocessor detects that the room temperature quickly rose by 15º F (8.3º C) in a minute the latter allows the unit to detect heat rise to alert you prior to reaching the fixed temperature of 135º F (57º C), providing quicker response to a potential fire.

Thank you in advance
