Woke up this morning to the unit chirping and notice to replace batteries. Removed them and one was burning hot, enough so I had to submerge it in water for fear of it igniting and causing a fire. Seems like others have had similar experiences given the number of postings to the boards. Have filled out the form and provided details to the "support help". Will update when there's a response.

Hi @mrkjhn,

Thanks for posting in the community. I understand that after replacing the batteries on your Nest Protect, one of them was burning hot, and you had to submerge it in water, avoiding a fire. I appreciate the information you've shared and the time taken to fill out a form to contact us. I'd be more than glad to share more details with you.

A case has been created for you, and we've now escalated the issue to our dedicated team. Please monitor your email for their response; they will contact you directly to resolve this.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Jonathan
