      <title>Factory reset does not work.</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I had to change the batteries in my Nest Protect Gen2. Since changing the batteries (im using&amp;nbsp;&lt;EM&gt;Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;))&lt;/SPAN&gt;, i have been unable to connect to the device or network.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The factory reset also no longer works as officially described:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Press and hold your Protect’s button. It will chime and glow blue. Continue holding the button down.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Release the button when your Protect starts to say its version number.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Your Protect will start a verbal countdown and tell you it’s erasing all your settings.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;To cancel the factory reset, press Protect’s button again during the countdown. &lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;After a few seconds your Protect will reset to its factory default settings. You can then go through setup with the app and add it to an account again.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have tried several times, but I cannot get to the point where the version number is announced. The device only says that the network is being tested and lights up blue. Then nothing else happens.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I understand that you have been having issues with your Nest Protect (2nd gen) since changing the batteries. Even though you used the correct batteries, you're unable to complete the factory reset because the device won't announce the version number. I appreciate the time you took to troubleshoot the device on your own, and I'm here to help you resolve this.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class="lia-align-justify" data-path-to-node="17"&gt;For this reason, regarding the completion of the factory reset, I would like to perform this process with a variation; that variation would be for you to hold down the button on the front of the Nest Protect for 30 seconds to see if you can hear the version number.&lt;/P&gt;

I tried it for 30, 40, 50 and 60 seconds - but it didnt worked out. After 5 seconds holding the button it answers&amp;nbsp; that the network will be checked and after that - no matter how long im holding the button - nothing happens.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Best regards, Henrik&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
