New smoke and co detector worked fine but no notification.

I was cooking and set off alarm. I never received a notification on my phone. I receive notification from it during monthly test. Notification of smoke is the main reason I purchased this unit. Incase i wasn't home when it was happening. I checked all settings and I see nothing wrong.
