Nest Protect sensor failure - again

My second Nest Protect has failed. I purchased a new one to replace the first one that failed and now seem to be forced into doing that again. What kind of garbage product are you all putting out there? It's almost as if you found a way for the sensors to fail just when the product goes out of warranty. And forget about trying to communicate with someone who is willing and empowered to help. You're connected to a call center in India to people who read off of a script and who literally repeat the same statements over and over again with no attempt to actually help. I have an open ticket and would love someone to respond that can escalate and get an exception made for a replacement. I wasn't even able to verify that the warranty period is truly up, the support rep was not able to help me navigate to a screen that could confirm her information. I should at least be able to run my own search on the serial #. You're telling me google can't figure out an algorithm to enable that?
