When does nest protect's warranty count from?

If we bought a sealed and unused Nest Protect from ebay, with a serial number from 2021, when would its warranty run from, and would it be covered? It's being sold by a charity who recieved it as a donation, but no one has ever opened box ( still sealed in plastic) or used it, obviously.

Be sure to select your region at the bottom of that page first. That will help get you the correct warranty for your country.
