Thanks for posting here in the Community. If you have the 1st Generation Nest Protect, it creates an ad hoc network during pairing, which creates a new wifi SSID. Usually, the format for that is NEST-XXXX.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Best,
Edmond

Nest protects create their own wifi network "E_xxxx_xxxx"?

Greetings,

I use 4 Nest Protects for my house, and I noticed that one new wifi network named (SSID) "E_0750_0750" was created.

I helped my relative installing 3 Nest Protects on their house recently, and I also noticed that one new wifi network named (SSID) "E_0749_8062" was created after I finished the job.

The two wifi networks still remain after the installation and pairing.

So I strongly suspect that the Nest Protects for a house are connected in this wifi network - it could be the Weave protocol that google mentioned below:
https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9232615?hl=en#zippy=%2Chow-nest-protects-connect-with-each-other%2Ccheck-that-your-nest-protects-are-interconnected%2Crequirements-to-use-wireless-interconnect

Has anyone else seen wifi network stating with "E_xxxx_xxxx" after installing Nest Protects? I tried searching the internet, but to no avail.

I am just trying to make sure that it is not something malicious and it is not an unfinished/incorrect installation.

Thank you.

Hey there,

Thanks for the information. Usually the ad hoc network will not show on the wifi list network after the pairing process. Just a few questions: Have you tried reinstalling the Nest App? Or turning off the last Nest Protect you added by removing the batteries or disconnecting the wire just to isolate if the new network would still appear?

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Edmond
