Nest Protect purchase

I’m looking to purchase Nest protect for my home. I am getting mixed information on the internet about what google is discontinuing. Will the Nest Protect continue to work after April 2024 and if the Nest app is not working anymore then what app will you be able to use?

I believe the April 2024 date is in regard to Nest Secure, which is the discontinued Alarm/Security System. I have heard nothing in regard to discontinuing the Nest app and it is the only app that works with Nest Protect. There has been a two year long, high priority request for the Google HOME app to include Nest Protect, so don't look to use that app.
