Nest Protect requires Wi-Fi for setup. If you then move it to an area without Wi-Fi, you won’t be able to get notifications, view status, or update settings in the app. It will still detect smoke and carbon monoxide, and if in range of your other Nest Protects, communicate with your other Nest Protects, and sound an alert via the wireless interconnect feature.

I need to install about 25 Nest protect smoke alarms (interlinked) on a large property. Do they all need to be connected to wifi or if a few are connected to wifi, the rest can communicate to the app via the ones that are connected to wifi? I do not have wifi in all the rooms!
