topic Solved: My Ring Alarm Smoke/CO Listener was not triggered by monthly sound check in Nest Protect

Moderator edit: Subject updated for clarity and findability.

TL;DR: My Nest Protects just ran a sound check and it did NOT set off my Ring alarm system.

After installing a Ring Alarm system with a Smoke/CO Listener (listens for smoke/CO alarms) over a year ago, I was concerned that the monthly, automatic sound checks might trigger that listener and, in turn, the Ring alarm which calls the fire department. I tried to research it back then, and surprisingly, the only real info I found was in a confusing five-year-old Reddit thread that left me paranoid, so I disabled the sound checks.

After changing the batteries in all my Protects last week, I revisited the sound check. I searched the web. That Reddit thread came up again. This time, someone had added a comment just last month stating the sound checks don't trigger the Ring listener. I reread the whole thread, and I see how it originally misled me.

I am hoping that now this post will come up along with that thread so there is additional information out there for the next person who has this concern.

I did ask this question at the start of my Ring installation in 2022, but it wasn't answered. We only discussed how to do a manual test (I got GREAT information from @Jason42). So, I thought I would come back and finally answer it.

To be clear - I am referring to the sound check where the Next Protects emit a few beeps and a bong in succession and listen to each other. I am NOT referring to a manually activated test (using the button or the app) where it speaks a countdown, and the sirens go off loudly which will probably trigger Ring unless you have disabled the listener.

Note: This was my experience. For reference, I have six Protects in a single level home. For me, the test went fine. You should probably be attentive the first time it happens.
