Same mounting unit for different Nest Protects?

The first generation Nest Protects that came with our new house are dying/expiring. If we buy the latest versions to replace them, are they the same shape and use the same mounting plate as the first generation? It would be great or not have to install new mounting hardware/plates and just pop the new units onto the ones we have on our ceilings. Thank you for any advice or insight!
