Nest x Yale - manual entry

Hello!

I have the Nest x Yale lock and am now renting my home. I would like to know how I can instruct my renters on manually adding their own codes as they won’t be connecting to WiFi. Is there a link to a pdf that I am able to share with them?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest x Yale Lock. Let’s check it out.

While there is a PDF file for the Nest x Yale Lock that you can download, it’s only for the Installation Guide. Also, to create a new passcode for someone, you’ll need to add them to your Nest home. Then the Nest app will automatically generate a passcode for them. This requires your lock to be connected to WiFi.

So there is absolutely no way to manually enter a new code into the keypad?? I have a renter and I wanted it to be used as a manual keypad as they’re not tech savvy and I don’t want to have to deal with potential tech issues. I swore I saw somewhere you can use it in this way and program as well.

Hi K,

Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I’m afraid the only time you can manually create a code using the keypad on the lock itself is when you first install and set up your Google Nest × Yale Lock. However, once you connect your lock to the Nest app, you can create and use passcodes that you’ve created with the Nest app.

Here’s a handy guide on how to set or change passcodes for Nest Secure and the Nest × Yale Lock.
