Nest X Yale Lock and Google Next Hub Max

The Next x Yale Lock says that it can be connected through the Nest Guard, Nest Connect, or Nest Hub Max. I have the Nest Hub Max and I'm unable to connect my devices. When I get to the last step of installation and press the button on the back of the lock, the lock says "Connecting to nest" but then says "Unable to Connect". Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here?
